Flame Health Optometry has been instructed to recruit a qualified Optometrist for a specialist private eye care clinic in Milton Keynes, with a salary of up to £70,000 per annum, depending on experience. This permanent position is available on a full-time or part-time basis and would suit an optometrist keen to broaden their clinical practice beyond traditional sight testing.
About the JobYou will work across a range of specialist eye care, supporting patients before and after refractive and cataract surgery, carrying out essential and advanced eye examinations, and providing clinical support to Ophthalmologists. The role involves guiding patients through their care and treatment pathways, with a focus on accurate assessment, clear communication and a high standard of care.
You will work alongside experienced Optometrists, Ophthalmologists and wider clinical support teams. The clinic has modern diagnostic and treatment technology, and full training in refractive and cataract surgery will be provided by experienced clinicians. Day-to-day support and wider specialist clinical guidance are also available.
Flexible working patterns are offered, including the possibility of longer hours across fewer days where appropriate. The package includes performance-related salary enhancement, 33 days’ annual leave with increases based on length of service, a pension scheme, private healthcare, paid professional fees and indemnity cover. Ongoing CET and clinical development are available;
Independent Prescribing sponsorship and placement assistance may also be offered.
Our client provides private specialist eye care, with services spanning refractive and cataract surgery, premium lens procedures and advanced eye examinations. The clinic’s work centres on supporting patients through assessment, treatment and follow-up care, bringing Optometrists, Ophthalmologists and clinical support colleagues together in a specialist setting.
The clinical environment offers access to diagnostic and treatment technology, structured training and guidance from experienced clinicians. For an Optometrist looking to develop specialist knowledge while contributing to patient care across surgical pathways, this setting offers the chance to build experience beyond routine sight testing.
What We Are Looking ForYou must be a qualified Optometrist registered with the General Optical Council (GOC). You will bring strong clinical standards, excellent communication skills and a patient-first approach, and be confident working as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.
An interest in refractive surgery, cataract care, premium lens procedures or Independent Prescribing would be advantageous, but is not essential. The successful candidate will be comfortable supporting patients through advanced eye care and surgical pathways, and interested in learning within a specialist clinical environment. Training and support will be provided to help you develop in the role.
Who This Role SuitsThis role will suit an Optometrist looking to broaden their clinical experience and move into specialist private eye care. It may particularly appeal to someone seeking structured training, exposure to advanced diagnostic technology and the opportunity to work closely with experienced Optometrists and Ophthalmologists, while retaining flexibility in their working pattern.
Job LocationThe clinic is in Milton Keynes, which has road and rail connections to London, Birmingham and the wider South East. The area also offers local amenities, green spaces, shopping and leisure facilities.
