SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator)

Permanent or Temporary Opportunity | Full-Time or Part-Time Considered

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated SENDCo to join our secondary school and lead the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This is a key leadership role within the school, responsible for ensuring that all pupils with SEND receive high‑quality support and are empowered to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to develop and implement inclusive practices that promote positive outcomes for all learners.

The role is available on a full‑time basis and encompasses both SENDCo responsibilities and PPA cover across the school. However, for the ideal candidate, a part‑time contract focusing exclusively on the SENDCo role will also be considered.

  • Lead and manage the school's SEND provision and policy.
  • Coordinate the identification, assessment, and support of pupils with SEND.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil progress and the impact of interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to promote inclusive classroom practice.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to colleagues on effective SEND strategies.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents/carers to support pupil development.
  • Liaise with external agencies, including educational psychologists, therapists, and local authority services.
  • Oversee EHCP processes, annual reviews, and statutory documentation.
  • Manage SEND resources and the deployment of support staff.
  • Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and all statutory requirements.
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have significant experience working with pupils with SEND, ideally within a secondary setting.
  • Hold, or be willing to work towards, the National Professional Qualification (NPQ) for SENCO.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Possess excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Be committed to inclusive education and raising achievement for all pupils.
  • Have the ability to build effective relationships with staff, families, and external professionals.
  • A supportive and collaborative working environment.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
  • The chance to make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people.
  • Flexible working arrangements, with both full‑time and part‑time options considered for the right candidate.
  • Permanent positions:
Up to £47,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications).
  • Temporary positions:
    Up to £200 per day
    .

If you are an enthusiastic and committed SEND professional looking to play a pivotal role in shaping inclusive practice and improving outcomes for young people, we would love to hear from you.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. A valid DBS check is required.
