Job Description & How to Apply Below

Milton Keynes
- West Midlands

We’re growing — and we’re looking for a Junior to Mid-Level Geo-Environmental Engineer to join our friendly, supportive consultancy team in our office near Milton Keynes.

PGE is a geo-environmental, geotechnical and site investigation consultancy working on a wide variety of projects across the South of England, Wales and the Midlands. Our clients range from residential developers to commercial organisations and mineral extraction companies, giving our engineers the chance to build broad, practical experience quickly.

We’re proud to be a collaborative and inclusive workplace where people are supported to learn, develop and progress — whatever stage they’re at in their career.

The Role

You’ll work as part of a close-knit technical team, supported by a Senior Engineer as your line manager and mentored by experienced colleagues. We provide guidance and reassurance as you grow in the role, while encouraging independence, confidence and ownership of your work.

This position would suit someone early in their career who’s ready to take the next step, or a mid-level engineer looking for variety, responsibility and long-term development.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting and delivering site contamination assessments (Phase 1 to Phase
    3)
  • Assisting with and carrying out ground investigations including geotechnical appraisal and infiltration testing
  • Monitoring ground gases and groundwater
  • Coordinating laboratory testing for contamination, waste classification and geotechnical works
  • Producing clear, well-structured factual and interpretative reports (with mentoring and review)
  • Managing site activities safely and professionally
  • Working in line with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) standards
What We’re Looking For

We know great candidates don’t always tick every box — if this role sounds interesting to you, we’d encourage you to apply.

  • A degree in a relevant subject (Geology preferred); a Master’s degree is a bonus, not a requirement
  • Experience in geo-environmental / geotechnical consultancy or ground investigation
  • (around 2+ years is ideal, but we’re open to strong candidates with less experience)
  • A basic understanding of ground investigation methods and data interpretation
  • Good organisational and time-management skills
  • Commitment to working safely and responsibly
  • A full, clean UK driving licence
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary (c. £32,000 to £40,000 reviewed based on experience)
  • Company vehicle
  • Salary sacrifice options
  • Hybrid working options
  • Ongoing training, mentoring and career progression in a supportive environment
