Overview
Senior Development Control Engineer. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Highways Engineer to join a Council in the Home Counties in delivering high-quality highway and transport infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities- Develop technical solutions, manage design and construction stages, and ensure projects meet statutory requirements, Council standards, and safety regulations.
- Review and approve designs under Sections 38 and 278.
- Coordinate across engineering disciplines, ensuring seamless project delivery.
- Oversee consultants and junior staff, providing guidance and supervision.
- Ensure compliance with DMRB, Manual for Streets, TSRGD, and other relevant standards.
- Liaise with stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain project progress.
- Monitor project performance, risks, and compliance throughout delivery.
- Proven experience in UK highway design and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of relevant design standards and highway adoption processes.
- Experience with surface water drainage and SuDS principles.
- Ability to lead projects, supervise staff, and manage multiple work streams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
