Finance Director; E-Commerce

Location: Milton Keynes (on-site working)

A fast-growing, data-driven e-commerce business managing multiple brands across global online marketplaces. Operating in a high-velocity environment, who combine strong commercial insight with operational excellence to scale profitably across online platforms.

As they continue to grow, they are seeking a hands-on Finance Director to lead their financial strategy, strengthen financial operations, and drive profitability across the group.

The Finance Director will take full ownership of financial planning, analysis, reporting, and control across the business. This is a senior leadership role suited to a commercially minded finance professional who thrives in a high-growth e-commerce environment and enjoys being close to the detail.

You will form part of the senior leadership team to provide strategic insight, enhance decision-making, and build a scalable finance function that supports continued expansion.

• Develop and execute financial strategies to support growth, profitability, and long-term sustainability
• Lead annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and detailed variance analysis
• Manage and develop the accounting team, ensuring smooth day-to-day running of the finance function
• Oversee preparation of P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports, providing clear insights to senior management
• Analyse product-level and channel-level performance across e-commerce platforms
• Partner with operational teams to align financial plans with business objectives
• Manage liquidity, optimise inventory investment, and improve cash conversion cycles
• Ensure accurate and timely month-end close, statutory reporting, and tax compliance
• Implement and enhance financial systems, controls, and reporting tools in a fast-paced environment
• Oversee compliance, internal controls, and risk management across global operations
• Create and lead a new e-commerce platform reconciliation function within the finance team
• Manage the full year-end process, including liaison with auditors
• Improve the speed, quality, and effectiveness of financial decision-making

• Proven experience as a Head of Finance/Senior Controller/Finance Director, or similar senior finance role within an e-commerce business
• Qualified finance professional (CIMA, ACA, ACCA)
• 7+ years of progressive finance leadership experience; e-commerce or online platform retail experience
• Demonstrated success in high-growth, fast-paced environments
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights
• Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting systems
• Advanced Excel and financial reporting software skills
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities
• Detail-oriented, agile, and comfortable operating in an environment of rapid change
