Finance Business Partnering Lead
Competitive Salary + Car Allowance + Bonus
Milton Keynes or Glasgow | Hybrid (2-3 days/week in office)
Permanent
Lorien are supporting a major UK organisation undergoing a significant period of transformation across technology, operations and large scale change programmes. We are looking to appoint a Finance Business Partnering Lead, a senior hire who will bring new thinking, external perspective and CFO‑style leadership to one of the organisation's most strategically important areas.
This is an opportunity to step into a highly influential role where financial insight, commercial judgement and executive communication are essential.
The Opportunity
Reporting into a 'Head of' within their Cost Management function, you will take full ownership of the P&L for a major business area (typically Technology though candidates with strong transformation or programme delivery experience may be aligned to the Projects portfolio.)
Both areas are undergoing extensive change:
Technology: huge spend (£000s million), a large and complex environment, currently integrating an acquired business.
Projects:
High volume of strategic change activity and major programmes shaping the future operating model. You will bring external perspective into a largely long‑tenured team (many withyears' service), helping modernise thinking, challenge constructively, and uplift commercial decision‑making.
This is a leadership role with visibility at senior forums, requiring strong business acumen, executive presence and the ability to tell the story behind the numbers.
What You'll Be Doing
Acting as the senior Finance Partner for your area, effectively the CFO‑style owner of the full P&L and cost base.
Leading and developing Business Partners to deliver high quality analysis, forecasting, and forward looking financial insight.
Providing strategic challenge to senior leaders, including participation in executive level forums.
Translating complex financial and operational data into clear, compelling narratives for decision makers.
Driving commercial discipline, cost optimisation and greater value realisation across Technology or major change programmes.
Working with Procurement, Central Finance and Change functions to influence investment decisions and shape business cases.
Coaching teams through change and embedding a strong performance and cost‑conscious culture.
What You'll Bring
Experience
Senior level Finance Business Partnering with P&L ownership.
Background in highly regulated industry such as financial services, utilities, telecoms or infrastructure.
Experience supporting Technology functions or significant transformation programmes.
Leadership experience, guiding teams through ambiguity, change and evolving commercial demands.
Strong commercial understanding: ability to articulate drivers of value and impact on business performance.
Experience operating with executive level stakeholders and influencing senior decision makers.
Skills
Advanced financial and analytical capability, with the ability to connect strategy, operations and financial outcomes.
Executive presence, confident communication and ability to simplify complex narratives for senior audiences.
Ability to challenge constructively and bring an external, progressive mindset to established teams.
Why This Role Stands Out
High strategic impact:
Cost and performance are the organisation's most critical metrics, and this team sits at the centre of that agenda.
Major transformation:
Involvement in a significant organisational acquisition and large‑scale change programmes.
Growth potential:
Clear succession opportunities with realistic progression to a 'Head of' level role.
Unmatched experience:
Within two years, you'll gain exposure to a scale of change and complexity that significantly accelerates your career trajectory.
Interview Process
Three stages: two conversational interviews, followed by a practical exercise.
Visa sponsorship may be considered for exceptional candidates who meet all experience requirements.
