Interim Financial Controller | Immediate Start

We're partnering with a growing organisation seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to join the business on an immediate basis.

This is a hands‑on leadership opportunity for a qualified accountant who can quickly establish themselves within the finance function, providing strong financial control, statutory reporting expertise and commercial insight. Working closely with senior leadership, you'll play a key role in ensuring accurate reporting, maintaining compliance and supporting the business through a period of growth and change.

As Interim Financial Controller, you will:

• Lead budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting activities across the business, providing valuable insight into financial performance, cash flow and balance sheet movements.
• Own the cash flow forecasting process, delivering meaningful analysis and challenge to support strategic decision‑making.
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end close activities, ensuring the timely delivery of accurate management and financial reporting.
• Manage the preparation of statutory accounts and reporting requirements across multiple entities, while coordinating the external audit process.
• Ensure VAT compliance and support wider tax matters in collaboration with external advisors.
• Act as a key finance contact for banking and funding partners, including covenant reporting, financial modelling and lender requests.
• Strengthen financial controls, accounting policies and balance sheet governance across the organisation.
• Provide technical accounting support on complex transactions, projects and business initiatives.
• Lead, develop and mentor a small finance team, promoting a collaborative and high‑performing environment.
• Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, reporting and controls.

• ACA or ACCA qualification.
• Proven experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance position.
• Strong statutory accounting and external audit experience.
• Excellent technical accounting knowledge, including FRS 102 and UK GAAP.
• Experience working within a multi‑entity, group or complex business environment.
• Strong cash flow management and balance sheet control experience.
• The ability to build effective relationships with senior stakeholders, auditors, lenders and external advisors.
• A proactive, hands‑on approach with the ability to deliver results in a fast‑paced environment.
• Immediate availability or the ability to start at short notice.
