Financial Accountant
Location: Milton Keynes - Hybrid
Hourly Rate: Up to £400.00 per day
Contract: Until end of September 26, extended upon performance
Purpose OfThe Role
We have three strategic programmes delivering system functionality including core financial modules. The programmes run concurrently and cover two new contract management applications, a new accounting and reporting application (S4 Hana), accounts payable & receivable modules, and payment processing. A robust controls framework is essential. This role supports specialist finance skillsets across the programmes, defining requirements, assessing system and process changes, and ensuring business readiness.
Responsibilities- Act as the subject‑matter expert on financial postings for various products and processes, capturing them and becoming the specialist for the new applications.
- Understand reporting requirements, the chart of accounts, and how subsidiary systems impact the main accounting systems to ensure integrity of balance‑sheet and profit‑and‑loss accounts.
- Attend project meetings, support Finance work streams, and manage diary and meeting conflicts.
- Understand the impact of operational changes to procedures and core business systems.
- Learn key features of the new applications.
- Assist in writing business requirements, clarifying accounting treatment and process, and collaborating with business analysts, developers, and testers.
- Draft process maps, procedures, and training material for new processes/tasks.
- Provide regular updates to the Financial Reporting team and secure decisions or escalation when needed.
- Perform or support UAT to ensure key controls are included within testing for a robust solution.
- Manage data‑migration tasks for the reporting team in the new applications, including reconciliation activity.
- Partially qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with month‑end reporting and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
- Experience managing relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Good understanding of the general ledger and reporting landscape; knowledge of SAP (FI, AP & AR) preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and methodical, accurate approach.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize workload, and demonstrate flexibility and proactivity while meeting tight deadlines.
- Team player who builds and maintains effective relationships at all levels of the business.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
