Interim Finance Manager (Multi-Academy Trust)

A Buckinghamshire-based Multi-Academy Trust is seeking an Interim Finance Manager to provide hands-on support across core finance operations and reporting for an initial 3-month assignment. This is a great opportunity for an experienced school/MAT finance professional to step into a fast-paced environment, bring stability, and help keep the finance function running smoothly.

You’ll work closely with the Trust's senior leadership and finance team to ensure robust day‑to‑day finance delivery, accurate reporting, and strong financial controls across the MAT.

• Oversee and support day‑to‑day finance operations (purchase ledger, sales ledger, banking, reconciliations)
• Manage month‑end processes and production of timely management information
• Support budget monitoring, forecasting and variance analysis across schools
• Ensure compliance with MAT financial procedures and internal controls
• Liaise with internal stakeholders (school business leaders, headteachers, central teams) to resolve finance queries
• Support preparation for audit and any reporting requirements (as needed)
• Help identify process improvements and implement practical fixes quickly

• Proven Multi‑Academy Trust (MAT) finance experience (essential)
• Strong understanding of education finance processes and reporting requirements
• Confident producing management information and working to deadlines
• Ability to quickly assess priorities, pick up existing systems/processes, and operate with minimal supervision

• Access system experience (highly desirable)
• Immediately available (or short notice)
