Hours: 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated midwife to join our team as Matron for Community Midwipery.

The successful candidate will provide exceptional clinical leadership and expert midwipery practice to families within the Milton Keynes community, including those booked for homebirth care. They will play a key role in shaping, delivering and continuously improving our community and homebirth services.

The role involves leading benchmarking activities to inform ongoing service development and driving initiatives that improve services with a strong emphasis on equity and equality for families and staff. The post-holder will support the Midwipery senior team in delivering personalised community midwipery care and oversee safe, evidence-based homebirth services aligned with national and local guidelines.

They will continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community midwipery-led services, ensuring high-quality, safe care at all times.

Working collaboratively with senior midwipery leaders and key community stakeholders, the role ensures seamless pathways and safe planning for out-of-guidance births.

Main duties of the job

Providing clinical leadership to the Clinical Service Unit thorough clinical and professional support to all nursing, midwipery and wider team of staff.

Ensuring high quality, safe patient care is delivered by an appropriately skilled and educated workforce, through effective leadership by setting standards and performance monitoring of those standards.

Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure a high standard of quality care delivery including – safety , effectiveness and patient experience, earning from feedback and patient and public involvement strategies learning from feedback and patient and public involvement strategies.

The post-holder will facilitate timely and effective communication with families and multidisciplinary teams, while leading clinical governance activity, including risk management, audit, practice development and the monitoring of professional and clinical standards.
