Caregiver, Home Care, Direct Support Professional/ Direct Care
As a Domiciliary Care Worker, you will provide high-quality care and support to children with learning disabilities, autism, complex needs, physical disabilities, challenging behaviour, and non-verbal communication abilities and elderly. You will support clients within their homes and in the community, promoting independence, dignity, safety, and overall well-being.
This role is ideal for compassionate and dedicated individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable people and their families.
Key Responsibilities Personal Care & Support
Provide personal care, including assistance with hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, and continence care where required.
Support clients with mobility, transfers, and moving & handling in line with care plans.
Encourage independence and assist clients in developing daily living and social skills.
Provide companionship and emotional support to children, adults, and elderly clients.
Behaviour & Communication Support
Support children and adults in managing challenging behaviours using patience, empathy, and positive behaviour support approaches.
Assist non-verbal clients using communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, visual aids, or other communication tools.
Promote emotional wellbeing and maintain a calm, safe, and supportive environment.
Community Engagement
Accompany clients on community outings, appointments, educational activities, shopping trips, and recreational activities.
Encourage participation in hobbies, social interaction, and community engagement.
Ensure the client’s safety, comfort, and wellbeing during all activities and outings.
Administer medication in line with care plans, training, and company procedures.
Monitor and report any changes in physical health, emotional wellbeing, or behaviour to the Care Manager.
Support with meal preparation and nutritional needs according to dietary requirements and care plans.
Assist elderly clients with daily routines and support to maintain independence at home.
Family Collaboration
Work closely with parents, guardians, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure care plans are followed effectively.
Build positive and professional relationships with families, offering reassurance and support where appropriate.
Record Keeping & Compliance
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care provided, observations, incidents, medication administration, and daily activities in accordance with company policies.
Follow safeguarding procedures at all times and report concerns immediately.
Adhere to health & safety regulations, confidentiality standards, and company policies.
