Love getting a great deal? Want to keep important environmental projects moving?

At Five Rivers, we’ve spent over 25 years working with nature, designing and delivering ecological and environmental solutions across the UK. We’re growing fast, and we’re looking for a Procurement Assistant / Buyer to join our Pre-Construction team.

About the role

Reporting to our Procurement Co-ordinator, you’ll make sure our contracting teams have the right materials, plant, equipment and subcontractors in place, at the right price and at the right time.

You’ll get quotes, compare options, raise purchase orders and keep everything organised, working closely with project and site teams. Safety and quality always come first. Alongside that, you’ll help keep projects on time and commercially strong.

What you’ll do
  • Get quotes for materials, plant, equipment and subcontractor services
  • Compare quotes on price, quality, lead times and terms, and recommend the best option
  • Raise and manage accurate purchase orders in line with company procedures
  • Handle supplier enquiries and routine price negotiations
  • Help onboard new suppliers and subcontractors and keep our approved supplier list up to date
  • Keep an eye on supplier performance, including price, quality and delivery
  • Build and manage project procurement schedules and the procurement planner
  • Arrange plant off-hires and collections to avoid unnecessary hire costs
  • Keep procurement records organised and up to date
  • Attend project meetings and keep Project Managers, Site Managers, QSs and Estimators updated
What you’ll bring
  • Experience in procurement, purchasing, buying or a similar admin role
  • Experience in construction, civils or contracting (desirable)
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail
  • Confidence talking to suppliers and negotiating prices
  • The ability to juggle priorities and meet deadlines
  • A team player who enjoys working with lots of different people
What’s in it for you
  • Up to £32,000 depending on experience
  • 33 days’ leave, inclusive of bank holidays
  • Pay Care health cash plan
  • Death in service cover
  • Paid time off for volunteering
  • Ongoing training and career development
Where you’ll be based

This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of 2 days a week at our office in Codford, Wiltshire.

We welcome applications from everyone and are committed to building an inclusive team.

Hours

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We’re happy to consider part-time hours.
