Early Careers Manager - Milton Keynes

Reporting to the Head of Talent and Culture, you will be responsible for overseeing the early careers programme for Group 1 Automotive.

This role has a strong strategic and forward-looking focus. The successful candidate will assess the future talent needs of the business and design programmes and initiatives that attract, recruit, develop and retain talented individuals for our future. The role includes some mid-terms focus on project delivery, namely tools that support our teams to manage colleague in the early stages of their career and the colleagues themselves.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for the day-to-day logistic administration to ensure smooth running of apprenticeship programmes.

This is currently a stand
-alone role but has potential to grow a team in the future.

What you’ll do day to day
  • Identifying future talent needs and planning programmes to meet these.
  • Designing effective attraction strategies and outreach campaigns.
  • Representing the business at events, careers fairs, school visits, etc.
  • Identifying tools and initiatives that support the wrap around care given to colleagues in their early careers.
  • Working with internal colleagues on project delivery.
  • Managing external partnerships.
  • Managing multiple stakeholders (internal and external), including hiring managers, workshop supervisors, Master Techs, local schools, OEM partners, apprenticeship providers.
  • Managing the company's levy account, including ensuring all monies are utilised effectively.
  • Supporting upskilling of existing colleagues by apprenticeship programmes.
Helpful skills and qualifications

  • Good understanding of automotive.
  • Strong understanding of apprenticeship standards, funding and compliance.
  • Confident communicator.
  • Skilled at influencing operational managers.
  • Sensitive to early careers demographics and their requirements.
  • Strong coaching capability.
  • Comfortable working with data and numbers.
  • Comfortable working in a changing environment.
  • Experience delivering and leading projects over short, medium and long term.
  • Innovation and creativity are 'nice to have’.
