Milton Keynes

Location:

Milton Keynes – Site opening Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm; weekends when necessary.

Working Hours:

45 hrs per week with 60 min unpaid break.

Rate: £16.02 per hour.

Overview

As a Transfer Station Supervisor, you will oversee the safe and efficient day‑to‑day operation of a busy recycling and transfer station. Leading a small team, you will ensure the site operates safely, complies with environmental and health & safety legislation, and consistently delivers high operational standards.

Core Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support a small team, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Oversee the daily operation of the recycling and transfer station, maintaining productivity and site performance.
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture by carrying out inspections, identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with company procedures.
  • Manage contractors on site, ensuring all permit requirements, site rules and safe systems of work are followed.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, report incidents and near misses, and complete all required documentation.
  • Liaise with customers, drivers and internal stakeholders to ensure the smooth and compliant running of the site.
Requirements
  • Previous supervisory or team leader experience within waste management, recycling, manufacturing or a similar operational environment.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety legislation, with the ability to promote safe working practices.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and lead a team effectively.
  • Experience using basic IT systems to maintain records and complete operational reporting.
  • A proactive, hands‑on approach with a commitment to delivering excellent operational and environmental standards.
