Maintenance Engineer – Milton Keynes (up to £56,000pa + up to 8% bonus)
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Engineer at our Milton Keynes tray wash facility. Ralph Coleman International are part of the IFCO group, a leading company in tray washing for retail supermarkets. The company is currently undergoing a major multi‑million pound investment programme for the implementation of new equipment and automation starting in January 2026.
The role will be accountable and responsible for the throughput and maintenance of the tray washing process machinery, ensuring its full and reliable production capability and monitoring of CCPs for the wash process. Problem solving, continuous improvement and preventative maintenance schedules are key requirements.
The role requires working on your own initiative covering a 12‑hour shift from 6 am to 6 pm on rotating days and nights.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Ensure efficient running of the tray washing process and equipment, limiting unplanned downtime.
- Accountable for the condition and reliability of production equipment, ensuring it operates safely (guards in place).
- Identify potential issues before they occur and rectify/avoid unplanned stoppages, making short‑term fixes and planning long‑term solutions.
- Maintain high quality of work, testing and checking after tasks to prevent repeated returns.
- Work with minimal supervision, rectifying issues as required.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities within the process.
- Record and monitor quality process parameters (e.g., TF024), and report any issues.
- Carry out preventative maintenance correctly and maintain records.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team, passing information of any issues to other shifts.
- Collaborate with the machine minder, ensuring communication between engineering and operations.
Preferred applicants should have a qualification in electrical engineering with a time‑served apprenticeship and at least 5 years experience in an automation environment.
