Location:
Milton Keynes
Salary:
Up to £38,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours:
Monday to Friday | 06:00 - 14:00
Overtime:
Paid at 1.5x Monday-Friday and 2x on weekends
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established rolling stock engineering business, carrying out high-quality fabrication and welding work on rail vehicles and components. The successful candidate will be joining a skilled team working on a variety of rolling stock refurbishment, overhaul and maintenance projects.
The Role As a MIG Welder, your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out high-quality MIG welding on mild steel to engineering drawings and specifications.
Producing welds in a variety of positions, including flat, horizontal and vertical.
Fabricating and repairing rail vehicle components and assemblies.
Preparing materials for welding, including cutting, grinding and finishing.
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and welding procedures.
Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard of quality and within agreed timescales.
Inspecting completed welds and carrying out any required remedial work.
Working safely in accordance with company procedures and health & safety legislation.
Maintaining a clean and organised working environment.
Supporting other members of the production team where required.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
Previous experience as a MIG Welder within engineering, manufacturing, heavy industry or rolling stock.
Ability to produce high-quality welds to a consistent standard.
Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
Good attention to detail and pride in producing quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
Minimum Level 2 qualification in Welding, Fabrication or a relevant Engineering discipline.
Recruitment Process Before starting, successful candidates will be required to:
Complete and pass a practical MIG weld test.
Pass a standard safety-critical medical.
Pass a Drugs & Alcohol screening.
