Temporary (initial 3 months) Pay Rate: £15.56 per hour About the Role Abstract Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Machine Minder on behalf of our client, a leading food manufacturing company based in Kingston, Milton Keynes. As a Machine Minder, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining production machinery to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality food production.
You will work closely with the Shift Leader and Engineering team to minimise downtime and maximise production efficiency. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous manufacturing or production machine operating experience who is looking to join a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities Machine Operation Set up, operate, and monitor production machinery. Ensure machines are running efficiently and safely. Prepare machinery for upcoming production runs using the production plan. Carry out machine changeovers and adjust settings for different products. Maintain machine settings and production information. Record production and machine performance data. Set up production lines in advance to minimise downtime. Maintenance & Troubleshooting Identify and resolve minor mechanical faults.
Carry out routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, oiling, and resetting equipment. Escalate complex engineering issues following company procedures. Complete maintenance handback documentation accurately. Quality & Food Safety Ensure all products meet quality standards and food safety requirements. Maintain excellent housekeeping standards using a "clean as you go" approach. Follow all Health & Safety policies and food hygiene procedures. Help maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
General Duties Support colleagues across the production team when required. Assist the Engineering and Factory Management teams with additional tasks. Provide cover for the Shift Manager during busy periods or absences. Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams. What We're Looking For Previous experience operating machinery within a manufacturing or food production environment. Good mechanical awareness and problem-solving skills.
Ability to identify and resolve minor machine faults. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment. Flexible and reliable with a positive attitude. Understanding of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene standards is desirable.
