Infection Prevention and Control Nurse
37.5 Hours - Cherwell Hospital (Banbury) & Blakelands Hospital (Milton Keynes)
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Nurse to join our team as an Infection Prevention Control (IPC) Lead Nurse to work cross‑site between our Cherwell Hospital in Banbury and Blakelands Hospital in Milton Keynes.
It is essential you can provide evidence-based Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) clinical advice and support by leading in surveillance, prevention and control of infection in the hospital setting by promoting and maintaining high standards of IPC practices with regard to the safety of patients, staff and visitors.
We are looking for a professional role model with experience in improving practice in IPC and delivering education to staff. You will be able to demonstrate this with evidence of your commitment to continual professional development.
Duties and responsibilities- Leading in surveillance, prevention and control of infection in the hospital setting.
- Promoting and maintaining high standards of IPC practices with regard to safety of patients, staff and visitors.
- Delivery mandatory training in IPC, Hand Hygiene and Aseptic Non touch technique (ANTT).
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to provide a high standard of care to all of our patients, with excellent communication skills and an ability to work within a multidisciplinary team while having flexibility.
- Registered Nurse educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- Current NMC registration.
- Teaching and Assessing qualification or equivalent experience.
- Evidence of recent update of infection prevention and control practice.
- Infection Prevention and Control Course – qualification (Desirable)
- Recent experience as a registered nurse in an acute surgical care environment.
- Previous experience and knowledge of infection prevention and control at ward/departmental level.
- Previous experience with surgical site surveillance
- Tissue viability knowledge
- Audit/surveillance experience – including Surgical site infection surveillance service (SSISS)
- Familiarity with the Patient safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and report writing.
- Policy / procedure writing.
