HEAD OF PRODUCT TEST

To provide leadership in all matters relating to testing and quality assurance for Products within the Technology portfolio. Provide a robust testing function to ensure Product changes are fit for purpose and can be deployed at pace without negative impact.

Responsibilities
  • Own the overall test approach for up to 10 Products;
    Functional Acceptance, System Integration, Regression, User Acceptance, Operational Acceptance, Performance and Volume testing, including the timely resolution of issues identified during each phase.
  • Act as the senior point of contact for the ongoing quality of Products, understanding and influencing the high‑level business requirements and technical ecosystem of each.
  • Build and retain streamlined teams of functional testers and automation engineers with a deep understanding of the Product, user journeys and its underpinning systems.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, identifying and implementing time‑ and cost‑saving initiatives without sacrificing quality.
  • Ensure consistent and ongoing utilisation of agreed testing tools and frameworks for each Product change.
  • Ensure test automation is kept current and comprehensive for each Product.
  • Ensure test management, planning, execution and reporting for each Product is in alignment with the current Testing strategy.
  • Be knowledgeable in contractual acceptance and commercially aware.
  • Lead testing across up to 12 Products spanning Commercial, Operations and Central Functions.
  • Lead a team of up to 10 permanent and 70 flexible resources to work consistently and deliver quality repeatedly, at pace.
  • Work effectively with multiple demanding internal client bases, complex internal team/external supplier bases and centralised Engineering Teams.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Technology based higher education or above.
  • Formal certification (e.g. ISEB) would be advantageous.
  • Certified Agile Tester (e.g. CAT) would be advantageous.
  • Hands‑on experience using automated testing solutions and AIs consistently, at scale, to drive efficiencies.
  • Technically competent with web/mobile, middleware technology and APIs.
  • Extensive track record within Testing & Quality Assurance, with significant depth and breadth of knowledge across the Testing lifecycle.
  • Experience of leading the delivery of multiple complex changes simultaneously.
  • Implemented testing methodologies, industry standards, automation and tools consistently, at scale.
  • Core programme management skills: planning, estimating, issue & risk management, reporting, coordination of resources, and financial management.
  • Proven track record of operating effectively at a Senior Manager level, including influencing Senior Stakeholders.
  • Experience of mentoring, supporting, developing and retaining teams of 50+.
  • Hands‑on experience of Agile incl. Scrum & Kanban and Product Ways of Working.
Team Size

Up to 80 made up of permanent and flex staff.

Employment Details

Permanent, Full time. The role can be based in London, Sheffield or Milton Keynes.
