Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV/Van Technician to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles (HGVs/Vans), ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and fabrication work, who are committed to delivering high standards of customer service and vehicle reliability.
The position involves working with a variety of equipment and tools, contributing to the smooth running of our fleet operations. Mercedes and Ford experience is beneficial. Over time rate will be discussed on interview stage.
- Conduct comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on HGVs/Vans, including engine, transmission, braking systems, and electrical components.
- Perform fabrication and welding tasks as required to repair or modify vehicle parts.
- Use schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues effectively.
- Carry out soldering and wiring work to ensure electrical systems are functioning correctly.
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment for assembly, repair, and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with the repair and servicing of auxiliary equipment such as excavators and forklifts when necessary.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, including heavy lifting protocols.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding vehicle status and repairs.
- Proven experience in vehicle or equipment repair with a focus on heavy goods vehicles (HGVs/Vans).
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience is essential.
- Proficiency in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly processes.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment for maintenance tasks.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently within a workshop environment.
- Knowledge of operating equipment such as excavators and forklifts is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and clients.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in vehicle maintenance or engineering are preferred but not mandatory. This role is ideal for motivated individuals seeking a challenging position within a professional environment dedicated to quality service delivery.
