About The Role

If you are confident, enjoy meeting new people and are interested in providing meaningful activities for people affected by dementia, we’d love to hear from you!

Our groups provide a welcoming and supportive space for people affected by dementia to engage in activities, socialise with others and get support and information.

As a Group Facilitator Volunteer, you’ll provide key support with the administration and running of the group, by coordinating and facilitating activities, welcoming people to the group and keeping records of those attending. You’ll also support with the set‑up and tidying away after the group, as well as providing encouragement to people attending to participate in the activities on offer. As well as carrying out the role as part of a team, there may be opportunities to facilitate these group sessions unsupervised, should the need arise.

This role will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal Records Check from either the Disclosure and Barring Service (England & Wales), Disclosure Scotland Check (Scotland) or AccessNI (Northern Ireland).

Support is needed for a face to face carers group at MK15 9BH
and an online carers group via Microsoft Teams.

The face to face role will start from Wednesday 12 August and monthly on the 2nd Wednesday from 2.30‑5pm. The online role takes place on the 3rd Wednesday each month via Microsoft Teams from 2.30‑4pm.

Applications would be preferred from someone with some experience or knowledge of the caring role.

You’ll be great for the role if you:
  • You have good verbal communication and facilitation skills
  • You are confident and enthusiastic
  • You enjoy meeting new people and being part of a team
  • You are aware of or are willing to learn about dementia and its impact on people
  • You can demonstrate empathy and compassion
