Citizens Advice Cheshire West is looking for an experienced Welfare Benefits Adviser to join our Welfare Rights Team as a Vulnerability Adviser.
This is an opportunity to use your knowledge and expertise to make a real difference to people across Cheshire West. You will provide specialist welfare benefits advice, guidance and casework, helping clients maximise their income, resolve benefit issues and access the support available to them.
Advice will mainly be provided by telephone, with occasional face-to-face appointments where required.
About the role
You will:
Provide high-quality welfare benefits advice, guidance and casework.
Help clients maximise their income and access their full benefit entitlement.
Manage your own caseload and work towards a target of six clients per week.
Prepare written submissions and support benefit appeals, excluding tribunal representation.
Liaise with statutory bodies, partner organisations and other agencies.
Maintain accurate case records in line with Citizens Advice policies, quality standards and funder requirements.
Contribute positively to the wider Welfare Rights Team.
About you
You will have experience providing welfare benefits advice, guidance or casework, with a strong working knowledge of the welfare benefits system.
You’ll have good IT, organisational and caseload management skills, and be able to communicate clearly and sensitively with clients and professionals. You’ll be confident working independently while contributing positively to a team, with a strong commitment to equality, diversity and client-focused services.
Experience with in Citizens Advice is highly desirable, particularly familiarity with our systems, processes and advice model.
