We are looking to recruit a Knowledge Transfer Partnership Finisher to complete a project in partnership with Low Carbon Europe. This is a 7‑month fixed‑term contract.

About the Role

Low Carbon Europe (LCE) is a UK‑based energy and environmental consultancy. The role will develop an interactive decision‑support tool for building energy consultants, specialising in the specification of building service systems. The project will build an intuitive user interface, graphical representations, and data management system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Familiarise yourself with LCE’s business and clients.
  • Understand the problem of over‑design and its context based on existing publications and user interviews.
  • Develop the RSDS prototype toolkit for specification and development of building service systems.
  • Train and supervise LCE staff to use RSDS with customers in real scenarios.
  • Market the RSDS toolkit and prepare it for commercialisation.
  • Co‑author academic papers and submit the KTP final report.
About You Qualifications

We expect the finisher to have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer games development, or information systems development. Relevant experience in developing computer applications is welcome.

Essential Attributes
  • Strong programming skills, including design and build of complete interactive systems with user interfaces, graphic displays and databases.
  • Ability to plan and manage the development project with the support of supervisors and LCE experts.
  • Smart, curious, self‑directed, and willing to learn about procurement of building services.
Desirable Attributes
  • Good communication and social skills; ability to work well within an existing team and perform under flexible, hybrid working arrangements.
  • Interest in climate change, net‑zero targets, human‑computer interaction and usability design.
  • Desirably, knowledge or interest in civil engineering and the building industry.
Experience

Some relevant work experience is welcome but not essential.

Location

The role is contractually aligned to our Milton Keynes campus but based in the company offices in Brighton. An expectation exists to work in the office initially, then adopt a hybrid pattern with a requirement to be in the office for one day per month and possible travel to industry conferences.
