Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Hours 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

Build AI that makes a real difference.

Imagine building AI that helps doctors spend more time with patients.

Creating automations that remove thousands of hours of repetitive administration.

Developing intelligent solutions that improve patient care across an entire NHS hospital.

That’s what you’ll be doing here.

Milton Keynes University Hospital is one of the UK’s leading digitally mature NHS organisations. We have a modern Oracle Health Electronic Patient Record, cloud-first infrastructure, integrated clinical systems and an ambitious vision to become one of the UK’s most AI-enabled hospitals.

You can help turn that ambition into reality.

Working as part of our growing Digital Innovation team, you’ll design, build and support AI solutions, intelligent workflows and automations that solve genuine operational and clinical problems.

You’ll work with technologies such as:

  • Microsoft Power Platform
  • AI Agents
  • Robotic Process Automation
  • APIs and system integration
  • Oracle Health AI capabilities
  • Workflow automation

If you want your code to have a visible impact on patients, clinicians and the future of healthcare, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note that we are not able to offer sponsorship for this role.

Interview w/c 31 August 2026

'They feel supported in their employers making reasonable adjustments to help them carry out their work, rating an 82.9%'. 'NHS Staff Survey 2024'

Every week will be different.

One day you might be automating a clinical process.

The next you’ll be building an AI assistant for staff, integrating systems through APIs, experimenting with new technologies or working directly alongside clinicians to solve problems that have frustrated them for years.

You’ll have the freedom to innovate, test ideas and introduce new technologies, while working within the governance and standards expected of one of the UK’s leading NHS digital organisations.

We’re looking for someone who’s naturally curious, enjoys solving problems and loves building things.

You might come from software engineering, automation, data engineering, AI development, Microsoft technologies or another technical discipline.

What matters most is your passion for using technology to improve people’s lives.

This is an opportunity to work with experienced digital leaders who believe in innovation, invest in technology and actively encourage experimentation.

To design, configure, develop, test, implement and support AI and automation solutions across Milton Keynes University Hospital, enabling safer, more efficient and more reliable clinical and operational workflows.

Milton Keynes University Hospital, in proud partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital committed to advancing patient care through cutting-edge research and education. With a “Good” rating from the CQC and significant investment underway, this is an exciting time to join our team and grow your career.

As a medium sized general hospital, we provide a full range of general medical and surgical services, including a busy Emergency Department, Maternity, and Paediatrics. As the population of our city and surrounding areas continues to grow rapidly, we are expanding and enhancing our facilities to meet rising demand and improve access to care for all our communities.

We are also proud to offer a growing portfolio of specialist services. In January 2025 we opened our state-of-the-art Radiotherapy Centre, bringing advanced cancer treatment closer to home. Our services also include neonatology, specialist surgical care, and a wide range of diagnostics, supported by the new Community Diagnostic Centre at Whitehouse Health Centre. We have just opened the Oak Wards - a new ward block featuring two 24-bed wards.

Further investment is underway, including the recently approved Women and Children’s Centre, set to open by 2030.
