Lead Custom Order Product Specialist​/Engineer - Electrical

Eaton’s Electrical sector is currently seeking a Lead Custom Order Product Specialist/ Engineer - Electrical to join our team. This onsite position is based at our Milton, ON facility and offers benefits from day one.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $93000 - $117000 a year.

The Lead Custom Order Product Specialist/ engineer would serve as a technical lead for the plant electrical engineering teams in our Milton manufacturing plants.

They will provide timely and accurate engineering drawings, materials information, and product support for various departments such as Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, Services and plant manufacturing. The engineer will ensure design accuracy and compliance with customer specifications, resolve discrepancies, and support the commercial aspects of orders. This includes meeting with customers to approve or revise drawings, supporting final inspections, and providing documentation packages.

They would also serve as mentor and trainer for the engineering resources.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

• Technical Leadership & Engineering Support:
  Lead the engineering execution of complex custom-order electrical products, including the development, review, and approval of wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• ETO/CTO Order Execution:
  Lead complex Engineered-to-Order (ETO) and Configured-to-Order (CTO) projects, translating customer requirements into technically sound, code-compliant, and manufacturable solutions.
• Project Coordination & Delivery:
  Manage engineering priorities against capacity-planning milestones, coordinate cross-functional activities, proactively address technical risks, and ensure engineering deliverables meet project timelines.
• Material & Configuration Management:
  Develop, review, and maintain bills of material (BOMs) within the ERP system, ensuring customer requirements and engineering changes are accurately incorporated.
• Technical Problem Solving:
  Act as a senior technical resource for complex product, design, manufacturing, PLC/HMI, and application-related issues, supporting troubleshooting and root-cause resolution.
• Code & Design Compliance:
  Apply and interpret the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable engineering standards to support safe, compliant, and effective product designs.
• Manufacturing Support:
  Partner with manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues, improve product manufacturability, and support the successful production of low-voltage power distribution assemblies.
• Mentorship & Technical Guidance:
  Provide technical mentorship, coaching, and guidance to engineers and technical team members, supporting knowledge sharing and development of engineering capabilities.
• Continuous Improvement:
  Lead and support initiatives focused on engineering standardization, design for manufacturing, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency using Lean and Six Sigma principles.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  
  Work closely with manufacturing, quality, sales, project management, supply chain, and other stakeholders to ensure successful execution of complex customer orders.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of engineering experience in the electrical industry.
• Understanding and experience using and interpreting the Canadian Electrical Code.
• Demonstrated ability to provide mentorship and technical guidance to peers.
• Competency in using MS-Office, AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship now or in the future.
• No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.

• P.Eng. designation is an asset.
• Experience in the manufacturing of low voltage power distribution assemblies.
• Competency in programming and troubleshooting PLC & HMI based systems.
• Understanding of design for manufacture and lean/six sigma principles. Six sigma black belt would be an asset.
