Eaton’s ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Mechanical Assembler. Eaton’s Milton, Ontario site is Eaton's largest manufacturing facility in Canada. The hourly rate for this position is $$21 - $25 per hour. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Reporting to the Production Manager – Custom Switchboards, this position constructs large steel switchboard structures largely by hand using hand/power tools, ladders, machines, jigs/fixtures, and other manufacturing equipment. Candidates require excellent mechanical aptitude, experience using torque tools, good ability to communicate in English, and the physical ability to perform the work (includes heavy lifting, prolonged periods of standing, and frequent use of awkward postures such as bending, kneeling, and overhead reaching).

There is no wiring (electrical assembly) in this role.

What you’ll do:

Build large switchboard structures and internal subassemblies using pre‑fabricated metal parts (steel and copper), following engineering schematics and electrical drawings.
Mount and brace parts and subassemblies inside structures.
Construct custom skids using power saw and nail gun.
Ensure use of proper hardware, correct torque, and consistent fastening methods.
Identify design issues and raise them through the correct channels.
Visually inspect parts and material for conformance to quality standards and customer specifications.
Modify parts using machines and power tools.
Repair or rework issues detected during the inspection/test stage of the job.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic)

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent additional experience.
Minimum 12 months experience in mechanical assembly using power tools.
Experience using torque tools.
Legally eligible to work in Canada without company sponsorship now and in the future.
No relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must reside within 80 KM of Milton, ON to be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Post‑secondary education or a technical certificate in a mechanical trade.
Experience using Outlook, ADP, Oracle and Inventor.
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing processes (Kanban, 5S+, MRB) and Six Sigma Tools.

Skills:

Proven aptitude for complex mechanical work.
Must be able to speak, read and write English effectively.
Strong work ethic.
Able to visualize and plan the assembly of a switchboard structure.
Excellent attitude towards quality, safety, continuous improvement and teamwork.
Functional with computers, in order to use a variety of digital business tools (email, ADP, electronic models, eLearning modules).
