Wage

Starting at $25.74 per hour and increasing to $28.29 after one year

Knowledge and

Experience:
  • Valid class BZ driver’s license with a demonstrated record of safe and responsible driving over the past 5 years (driver’s abstract and CVOR will be requested)
  • Significant skills dealing effectively with the public, including demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, problem solving, and sound decision-making in positions providing customer service
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to communicate effectively with the traveling public and to report on incidents involving safety and/or service
  • No criminal convictions or pending charges relating directly to the Operator position
  • A good knowledge of Milton and area is an asset
  • Willingness to participate in a comprehensive recruitment process which consists of interviews, trainability session, medical examination (as required for licensing), drug and alcohol screening, criminal record and reference checks
  • Must be comfortable helping those with mobility issues out, and to lift 50lbs at shoulder height.

Key Accountabilities Customer Transportation:
  • Transport customers using custom access / on-demand requests, in accordance with Municipal and Company policies, observing all traffic laws and safety rules and adhering to time schedules
  • Courteously and professionally interact with customers
  • Load mobility devices and escort customers to and from curbside as required
  • Make general announcements to customers
  • Issue transfers
  • Collect correct fares and ensure valid passes are presented
Reporting and Emergency Procedures
  • Complete a variety of vehicle and incident reports as required
  • Carry out emergency/accident procedures when required
  • Answer inquiries en route
