Early Learning Center Assistant Teacher - Full Time
Join Delmarva Christian Schools. The Early Learning Center Assistant Teacher works closely with the Early Learning Center Director and assists in guiding students to discern God’s will for their lives.
Position SummaryThe Early Learning Center Teacher is responsible for guiding students in their quest to discern God’s will for their lives at Delmarva Christian Schools. This employee must have a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ to enable them to reach students by helping develop their God-given intellectual, physical, and spiritual talents. The Early Learning Center Teacher believes that every student has been created by God uniquely and challenges them to reach their fullest potential.
Preferred Qualifications- Vibrant, growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- ACSI Early childhood teacher certification (preferred)
- Must be CPR/First Aid certified
- Strong communication skills written and verbally
- Must meet physical requirements of the position, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Collaborate with teachers on lesson planning and lessons.
- Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child.
- Assistant Teacher should be interacting and engaging with children throughout the day through interactive play, sitting on the floor with children (or at tables), and/or reading with children.
- Assistant Teacher should be engaging with play during outside play times.
- Send home daily communication sheets for individual children.
- Report any suspected abuse to supervisor.
- Clean and arrange classroom environment in accordance with program goals and philosophy, including learning centers.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom by following daily cleaning requirements.
- Toileting and changing of diapers as needed.
- Maintain and turn in daily time sheet for 2 week periods.
- Demonstrate organizational abilities.
- Daily assignments may include coverage for other staff during breaks and planning time, cleaning toys and educational materials, cleaning common areas such as bathrooms, break room and outdoor play areas, removing garbage, inventorying supplies, organizing art and supplies cabinets.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- Employ Matthew 18 principle in all conflict resolution.
- Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, and students.
- Maintain confidence in and hope for the success of every student.
- Speak to the heart of the student while holding each accountable.
- Prayerfully maintain a lifestyle that demonstrates a commitment to Christ.
- Actively promote the program in the community.
- Attend in‑service and staff meetings.
- Attend professional development classes to keep the program engaging and aligned with best practices.
- Maintain open communication with the office.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment, both physically and spiritually.
- Have open communication with parents, both verbal and written.
