Auto Glass Installation Technician Trainee
Join Safelite as an Auto Glass Installation Technician Trainee. As a trainee, you will complete a comprehensive training program that prepares you for independent work as a certified auto glass technician. Upon finishing, you will earn the Safelite Safe Tech certification and master basic skills in glass repair, replacement, and recalibration, all while upholding a can‑do attitude and the Safelite Spirit.
WhatYou Will Do
- Be paid to learn and apprentice Safelite’s methods through hands‑on and classroom training.
- Observe and assist in installing and repairing auto glass.
- Recalibrate automotive safety systems, including troubleshooting and diagnostic testing.
- Provide additional services and products as requested.
- Study for and pass certification testing to become a Safelite‑certified technician.
- Safely operate company and customer vehicles, handle company‑issued tools and chemicals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all company policies and standards.
- Competitive weekly pay: $21.25/hour during training, rising to $25.25/hour after certification.
- Earn $5 for each set of wiper blades added for customer safety.

- Program to buy additional PTO or sell unused time up to 16 hours.
- Up to $5,250 annually in tuition reimbursement.
- Paid training and all required tools and resources.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license required; other licenses may be required by law.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Lift and carry up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Stand for extended periods, work in tight spaces, bend and twist body.
- Use a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Operate a motor vehicle in compliance with all laws; consent to in‑cab vehicle safety camera/surveillance.
- Maintain professionalism, passion for customer service, and exceed customer expectations.
- Work outside in varying weather and temperatures for extended periods.
- Handle chemicals safely, as required by the Safelite Way of Fitting.
- Adapt to scheduled days with flexible start and end times to meet customer needs.
- Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools for recalibrations and troubleshooting.
- Independent and collaborative problem‑solving skills.
- Read, write, and interpret English and technical directions.
- Communicate orally (phone) and written (computer or other electronic means).
- Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to dress code and PPE policies.
- Compete under performance pressure and maintain stability.
