Specialized Learning Support Coordinator

The Specialized Learning Support Coordinator supports Curry College's commitment to inclusive excellence by providing individualized academic coaching, small group teaching, and executive function support for students with diverse learning needs, including neurodivergent students and those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Reporting to the Program Director, this role collaborates with faculty, staff, and families to foster equitable learning experiences that promote independence, self-advocacy, and student success.

Essential Functions:

1. Academic Coaching and Instruction
  • Deliver individualized and small-group academic coaching sessions focused on helping students strengthen executive functioning skills and build an understanding of the learning strategies that work best for them;
  • Provide classroom-based teaching instruction to small groups of students with diverse learning profiles and scaffold them in their learning accordingly;
  • Assist students in developing organizational systems, time management strategies, and self-advocacy skills to support success in college;
  • Use a strengths-based and inclusive approach to empower students in achieving their personal and educational goals.
2. Collaborative Support and Communication
  • Partner with faculty, program staff, and the broader campus staff to ensure equitable access to academic coursework through the effective implementation of accommodations and inclusive learning practices;
  • Contribute to team meetings and case discussions to promote shared understanding and coordinated student support;
  • Maintain ongoing communication with students, families (as appropriate), and colleagues to foster collaborative relationships that enhance student success;
  • Provide consultation and feedback to faculty and staff on inclusive instructional approaches and support strategies for neurodivergent students.
3. Student Monitoring and Program Development
  • Track and document student progress, identifying trends and adjusting support strategies to meet individual learning needs;
  • Utilize data and feedback to inform continuous improvement of academic coaching and support services;
  • Assist in designing and delivering workshops, materials, and learning tools that promote academic success and self-regulation;
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives that advance accessibility, equity, and inclusion within the Neurodiversity Center for Excellence and the broader Curry College community.
Additional Functions:
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or their designee.

    Anticipates potential challenges, identifies barriers to learning, and takes timely, informed action to promote equitable academic access and success for all students.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or related field preferred
  • Experience in academic coaching or special education
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with inclusive learning practices and support strategies
  • Experience working with learners with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or autism.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Education, higher education, human development, psychology, or related field;
  • Experience collaborating with and supporting people with disabilities and centering their voices, priorities, and goals.
Salary Range:

$65,000 to $70,000 annually
