SummaryAvailable on an as‑needed basis, childcare substitutes are responsible for the daily classroom or after school operations of the Infant or Toddler Classroom or after school program group as assigned, including providing high quality care and education for enrolled children daily in alignment with licensing ratio requirements and maintaining positive collaborations with families, coworkers, service providers, and community partners.
Duties- Facilitate high‑quality student engagement and classroom management
- Implement developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate curriculum development for your assigned classroom
- Assist in relevant record‑keeping organization, training and compliance
- Support strong family‑teacher partnerships
- Be a team player
Must be at least 18 years of age and meet minimum qualifications for an early childhood teacher or after school program staff substitute as described by the Vermont Child Development Division for Licensed Child Care Center Programs and NAEYC to include or exceed a high school diploma or GED.
Physical/environmental Requirements- Sit, stand and/or move about for extended periods.
- Actively engage in play activities with students.
- Visual acuity to read and write printed materials, computer screens and observe students’ movement.
- Hearing and speech abilities for ordinary and telephonic conversations and to speak to small groups of children.
- Ambulatory ability to move around the classroom, playgrounds and assist with play‑oriented learning activities.
- Ability to lift children, carry, push and move supplies/furniture/etc. of light‑to‑medium weight (under 40 lbs.) on an intermittent basis.
