Packaging Mechanic - Days
Perrigo Company plc is looking for a highly motivated Packaging Mechanic to work the Days Shift (6am - 6pm ET) on a biweekly repeating 2/2/3 schedule (Week A: Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat; Week B: Sun, Wed, Thurs). This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position with a minimum starting pay rate of $24.31 per hour
. A comprehensive benefits package, including medical, vision, dental, 401K matching, tuition reimbursement and quarterly bonus, is provided. A $5,000 retention bonus is also offered.
- Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical aspects of packaging and manufacturing process equipment and piping systems in compliance with SOPs, ensuring machinery operates in a clean, organized environment.
- Perform machine rebuilding, repair, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and equipment relocation for packaging equipment, sanitary valves, pumps, gear and belt assemblies and conveyors.
- Conduct general building maintenance for the facility, including HVAC and plumbing systems.
- Create and complete general work orders, documenting legibly and clearly; communicate with other mechanics and technicians across all shifts.
- Identify and implement process improvements related to safety, quality and productivity; perform special projects and related duties as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and adhere to 5S practices in the Maintenance Shop.
- Participate in training and career development activities; perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of solid industrial maintenance experience.
- Proficient use of hand and power tools for general maintenance.
- Cooperative work conduct; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Read/interpret equipment repair and rebuild manuals and drawings.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Suite; experience with CMMS such as SAP.
- General knowledge of utility systems (steam, water, gas) in a manufacturing environment.
- Read, write, and comprehend English at a level sufficient to follow safety protocols and operating procedures.
- Meet all locally defined training requirements.
- Mechanic certification in complex industrial or automotive repair/rebuild procedures.
- Welding and/or machinist certifications.
- Experience operating a lathe, mill and other fabrication equipment.
- Work from ladders, man lifts; lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Stand on concrete floors for up to 12 hours.
- Stoop, squat, and bend regularly.
- Work in confined spaces and high areas using proper procedures.
- Regularly grasp small hand tools and perform tasks requiring visual and audio acuity.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including respirators, and be medically cleared to wear respirators.
- Be clean‑shaven to seal respirator fit.
- Comply with worker safety, environmental and health practices.
