Key Responsibilities- Set up and maintain tooling in peak condition
- Read mechanical drawings and understand specifications to determine desired results
- Translate instructions into computer commands for machine operation
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto machines
- Supervise the machine during operation and make necessary adjustments to produce desired results
- Inspect and measure finished products, comparing them with requirements to ensure compliance
- Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot malfunctions
- Document and communicate actions taken or needed to maintain continuity across shifts
- Make quality decisions regarding part cosmetics and aesthetics
- Provide key information on machining operation for maintenance and troubleshooting
- Offer technical leadership and training to entry‑level and intermediate machinists
- Investigate root cause of non‑conformance and scrap events; communicate findings and correct actions
- Support process manufacturing capability studies and improvement projects
- Serve as primary contact for operations representation in manufacturing reviews
- Conduct audits of manufacturing processes
- Regrind or alter standard tooling to meet custom feature requirements
- Program and edit parts, write macro sub‑routines for unattended equipment
- Develop tool specifications and procure machining tools for various dimensional characteristics
- Set up and perform first‑piece program/part validation for new prototype jobs
- High school diploma or equivalency required
- Demonstrated proficiency in CNC machining preferred
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
- Basic computer proficiency required
- Understanding of machine controllers (PLC’s and CNC’s)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills required
- Good communication skills
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
