This is a chance to run the accounting and finance of a family office that builds and invests in things meant to last: real estate in Midwest, and renewable energy projects in Europe. You’ll work directly with ownership, carry real responsibility from your first month, and have room to grow together with us.
Who we areSolsiden is the Wangard family office. We invest the family’s capital in real estate and other long-lived, tangible assets, and we manage those investments ourselves with a small team. Today that includes:
- Real estate development, including a lakefront condominium project in the Milwaukee area and an office-to-residential conversion in suburban Cleveland
- Commercial and industrial property, and land held for future development
- An internal lending company that finances family projects
- Thermal energy storage projects in Europe, which store electricity as heat for city heating networks and help them burn less fossil fuel
We think in decades, and we make decisions we expect to still look right ten years from now. We take pride in getting the numbers right, and we deal honestly with everyone. We’re a business and we expect to make money, but we also want our investments, and our sustainable energy projects in particular, to leave things better than we found them.
We’re a small team that runs on trust: you’ll work directly with the people who make the decisions, you’ll have room to use your judgment, and loyalty runs both ways. And we keep learning. We embrace technology that makes us more productive, especially AI, and we would rather hire people who know more than we do.
Wangard Partners, Inc. is a separate commercial real estate company that was founded by the family behind Solsiden. It keeps the property-level books, in Yardi, for several properties in which the family has an ownership interest.
This position works for Solsiden. You’ll own Solsiden’s books, which are in Quick Books today. We’re evaluating a move to another platform, and your experience will be part of that decision. On the Wangard Partners side, you’ll review what comes to us, including monthly property financials, funding requests, and larger expenditures, ask questions when something doesn’t look right, and make sure the two sets of books agree.
Whatyou’ll do Own the accounting and the monthly close.
Maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules for all Solsiden entities, including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets and depreciation, debt, capital contributions and distributions, and intercompany activity. Reconcile every bank, loan, and credit card account, and put together a monthly package (balance sheet, income statement, budget vs. actual, and cash position) that ownership can read quickly and rely on.
Pay the bills and collect what we’re owed.Accuracy matters here, and we take pride in it. You’ll check invoices against the contract or approval behind them, code them to the right entity and project, and pay them on time by ACH, check, or wire, including euro payments to our European partners. You’ll confirm any new or changed vendor bank details by phone before paying, and you’ll invoice and follow up on rent, loan repayments, reimbursements, and other receivables.
Managecash, debt, and our banking relationships.
Keep a rolling 12‑month cash forecast across all entities, covering operating costs, payroll, debt service, construction draws, capital calls, and expected income, and help us build it into a three‑year plan. Invest surplus cash according to our written investment guidelines. Keep a complete schedule of internal and external debt. You’ll work closely with our bankers as their day‑to‑day contact, help put together loan requests and renewals, and keep…
