Overview

This position is part of Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), Wisconsin’s largest and most diverse technical college, offering over 170 high‑quality programs that connect students to career paths in one to two years and provide cost‑effective routes to a four‑year degree. MATC focuses on preparing students for the careers of tomorrow and meeting community needs, especially for students with the greatest needs.

The Educational Assistant works under the supervision of the Dean to provide individualized or group learning support, assist in the learning process, and support instructional goals in the assigned courses.

Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for the maintenance of assigned spaces, establish and enforce regulations related to equipment, manage inventory of supplies and equipment, create purchase orders, and work with faculty and Dean to identify inventory needs.
  • Support specific departments in delivering semester startup packets and instructional materials to improve service and efficiency for students and faculty.
  • Work closely with student services to understand possible learning needs and help create adaptive materials in conjunction with the instructor.
  • Provide alternative support for specific academic skills, consistent with classroom instruction and in conjunction with faculty instruction if needed.
  • Encourage learning and study skill behaviors that help students achieve their academic goals.
  • Assist with makeup testing and proctoring services for MATC students.
  • Update inventory and other data; prepare relevant reports.
  • Act as a liaison between students and faculty.
  • Provide support for specialized software related to the center’s specialty.
  • Participate in related in‑service training, workshops, divisional meetings, and other educational activities as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the division.
Minimum Qualifications

Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Education: Associate degree or higher in a comparable field.

Experience: Must have experience with:

  • Manual milling machines and CNC machining centers
  • Precision measuring tools
  • G‑code programming
Preferred

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or higher in related fields and at least three (3) or more years of comparable experience.

Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 25 lbs., carry, and push up to 20 lbs.; pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb stairs and a ladder and maintain balance.
  • Stoopp, kneel, crouch, reach, hear, and speak.
  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: 50% sitting, 25% standing, 25% walking.
Supplemental Information

Start Date: August 2025 (academic year, August–mid‑May). Position is funded through a limited‑term grant and currently funded through 6/30/26.

Hours: Up to 19 hours weekly, in‑person. Hours and location are based on enrollment and departmental need.

Salary: Determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.…
