In This Role

You will be an exceptional collaborator and team player with a deep understanding of literacy within the content area. You will connect with and inspire students, promote metacognitive engagement, and go the extra mile. Candidates will be organized, detail‑oriented, and expert at lesson‑plan development.

Academics
  • Deliver rigorous, engaging instruction and ensure all learners meet or exceed academic goals.
  • Implement individualized and small‑group instruction by adapting the 9‑12 curriculum to meet each pupil’s needs.
  • Use academic data to modify whole- and small‑group instruction.
  • Develop and implement rigorous, standards‑aligned lesson plans for high‑school ELA courses (e.g., 9th Grade English, American Literature, British Literature, AP Language/Literature, Journalism, Creative Writing).
  • Guide students in close reading and critical analysis of diverse literary texts.
  • Instruct students in the writing process across multiple genres and styles.
  • Differentiate learning for all students, including those with IEPs or ELL status.
  • Assess and evaluate student writing, reading comprehension, and oral presentations using clear rubrics.
  • Record and report student attendance, grades, and progress in compliance with policies.
  • Prepare students for standardized tests and college‑level exams (SAT, ACT, AP).
  • Promote a culture of literacy and lifelong appreciation for reading and language.
  • Integrate educational technology to enhance learning experiences.
