Instructor, Commercial Building Inspector - Plumbing; PT

• Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching‑related activities.
• Manage the classroom/laboratory.
• Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
• Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
• Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
• Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
• Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
• Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
• Support student organizations and activities.
• Develop relationships with business and industry.
• Complete program evaluation and follow‑up.
• Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Educational Requirements: Must have Technical Diploma or higher in a related field including the trades, Architecture or Civil Engineering or a current or master journeyman in any trade.

  Experience:
  
  Must have a minimum of five years full‑time or equivalent (10,000 hours) of work experience in any trade, Architecture or civil engineering. Additionally, at least one year of recent work experience within the last five years or two years of teaching residential or commercial building inspector coursework at the post‑secondary level within the last five years (equivalent to one year teaching experience or two semesters full‑time or four semesters part‑time).
• Industry or Vendor Certification:
  Licensure: Must have at least one of the following licenses:
  Plumbing Inspector license – BLDGIN‑591.

• Technology‑based Instruction – Experience with technology‑based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
• Emerging Technologies – Experience with emerging technologies (e.g., social networking applications)

Start Date: This position supports the Manufacturing, Construction, and Transportation (MCT) Pathway and is available to start as soon as January 2026.

Hours: This position is a .5 FTE; the number of hours worked per week will vary based on course load. Work is conducted during scheduled course hours, Monday‑Friday.
