Position: Bilingual Educational Assistant - Early Childhood Education (FT )

Overview

Under the supervision of the Dean, the Educational Assistant provides individualized or group learning support to students in the Learning Pillar program. Assist in learning process by providing professional services for specific courses. Work is diversified based on instructor and student needs, requiring judgment and analysis within established procedures. Daily responsibilities are completed independently using established policies and general objectives with occasional supervisory contact for clarification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster learning and study skills to empower students to achieve academic objectives; identify learning behaviors, devise strategies, and predict outcomes.
  • Determine and schedule suitable support and tutoring methods; offer tutoring assistance for academic skills and subjects aligned with classroom instruction and collaborate with faculty when necessary.
  • Manage make‑up test proctoring services for MATC students.
  • Maintain designated spaces and equipment, enforce regulations, manage inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Address student concerns related to computers, software, scheduling, financial aid, web‑based homework platforms, and audio/visual systems.
  • Update inventory and data, prepare reports, study guides, and reference materials; maintain files, databases, and progress records; act as liaison between students and faculty.
  • Assist in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training of tutors.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality; demonstrate honesty and adhere to strong moral principles.
  • Provide general information about MATC and refer students to relevant services.
  • Establish and maintain positive work relationships with staff, faculty, students and administrators.
  • Continuously learn and develop professionally; stay current with best practices and participate in work groups, trainings, workshops, seminars, committees, and professional associations.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support division operations and institutional objectives.
Qualifications
  • Compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards and all MATC policies.
  • Associate's degree and two years of experience.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English (reading, speaking, writing).

  • Proficiency with databases, student information systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and query/reporting.

  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse educational and socio‑economic backgrounds.
Supplemental Information Hours

This is a full‑time position. Work hours vary Monday – Friday.
