St. Augustine Preparatory Academy – South Campus – Full‑time during 10‑month school year. Desired start date:
August 2026.

Classroom teacher teaching high school social studies courses with a focus on historical inquiry, civic engagement, and critical analysis, within a Christian school environment that values faith, community, and holistic education.

• Deliver rigorous, engaging instruction and ensure every learner meets or exceeds academic goals.
• Implement instructional strategies to provide individualized and small‑group instruction, adapting the 9‑12 curriculum to meet the needs of each pupil.
• Use academic data to modify both whole and small‑group instruction in order to best meet the needs of students.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and standards‑aligned lessons for high school social studies courses, encouraging students to analyze complex historical and contemporary issues.
• Guide students in analyzing primary and secondary sources, evaluating different perspectives, and constructing well‑supported historical arguments and informed civic opinions.
• Connect historical and theoretical concepts to relevant current events and global issues to make the subject matter timely and relevant.
• Adapt instruction, materials, and assignments to meet the varied learning needs, abilities, and interests of all students, including those with IEPs or ELL status.
• Prepare students for standardized tests and advanced placement (AP) exams in subjects such as AP U.S. History, AP Government, or AP World History, where applicable.
• Administer a variety of assessments, including essays, research papers, debates, presentations, and objective tests, to accurately measure student comprehension and critical analysis skills.
• Accurately record and report student attendance, grades, and progress in compliance with school and district policies.
• Establish a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respectful discussion, debate, and intellectual curiosity.
• Encourage civic responsibility and active participation in democratic processes.
• Effectively integrate educational technology, maps, digital resources, and multimedia to enhance instruction.

• Build trusting relationships with students so each child feels known, seen, and loved.
• Serve as the cultural and spiritual model for their students, always interacting respectfully and striving to demonstrate God’s love to their students and families.
• Support students’ character development by modeling and reinforcing the Aug Prep Way: serving in love with integrity, respect, courage and perseverance.

• Communicate proactively and consistently with students, families, and colleagues, providing frequent updates on student progress, classroom activities, and school initiatives.
• Work collaboratively and supportively with colleagues, supervisors, students, parents/guardians, and community members, maintaining positive, solution‑oriented relationships that foster a strong, inclusive environment for optimal learning.
• Continuously seek professional growth through department meetings, professional development, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars/in‑services.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned, such as supervising students outside of class (hall duty, lunch duty) or advising extracurricular activities (e.g., Math Club or coaching).

• Belief in the ability of every child and a commitment to ensuring excellence for each student.
• Bachelor’s degree in History, Political Science, Economics, Social Studies Education, or a closely related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred. A state teaching license is not required.
