OverviewCristo Rey Jesuit High School is part of a national network of 41 high schools that transform urban education through a unique integration of college‑prep academics, professional experience, and spiritual formation. With a mission to provide affordable Catholic secondary education, the school serves 450 students and maintains a Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) to prepare graduates for success in college, work, and life.
Responsibilities- Develop data‑driven annual, unit, and lesson plans guided by the Cristo Rey Network’s Common‑Core‑aligned standards and benchmarks, ensuring exceptional student‑achievement gains on core assessments.
- Design and administer interim assessments, perform in‑depth analysis of student performance, and collaborate with colleagues and instructional leadership to devise appropriate instructional responses.
- Execute rigorous, engaging, high‑impact lessons that accelerate student growth, monitor student understanding, effectively use technology, and incorporate character instruction.
- Build individual student relationships, communicate frequently with families, and support cura personalis (care for the whole person).
- Define and uphold school‑wide practices, routines, and norms for student behavior consistent with the school’s philosophy of respect, support, and high expectations.
- Maintain an organized, vibrant classroom that conveys warmth and order, prioritizing time management across teaching responsibilities.
- Participate in professional development, seek feedback, and independently access resources to further personal improvement.
- Collaborate with colleagues to analyze student data, identify needs, solve challenges, and strengthen trust within the team.
- Model values consistent with Catholic, Jesuit education and service to others.
- With administrative support, lead the development and oversight of a core supplementary role (e.g., Campus Minister, Co‑curricular Coordinator).
- Provide tutoring through the Academic Assistance Program or manage a study hall period.
- Monitor transitions, meals, and other common times, and serve as a chaperone for school events.
- Run advisory book club sessions and serve as a point of contact for advisees’ parents.
- Volunteer to coach, manage a club, plan a school‑wide event, or otherwise contribute to school life.
- Bachelor’s degree with a major, minor, or comparable credential in the primary teaching discipline (master’s preferred).
- Teaching license in the primary discipline or demonstrable progress toward licensure.
- Record of strong student achievement as a middle or high school teacher.
- Proficiency using technology to advance teaching and learning.
- Experience working with English language learners is a plus.
