At BPS, we are dedicated to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment for our students. We believe in fostering personal growth and academic success, and we are looking for a dedicated and passionate Teacher Assistant to join our team.

Position Summary:
The Teacher Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the teacher's instructional objectives by working with individual students and small groups to help them succeed academically. Maintaining a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instructional Support: Assist students one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce skills and knowledge introduced by the teacher. Help distribute and collect instructional materials and check students' work as directed.
  • Classroom Environment: Help maintain an organized and stimulating classroom atmosphere, ensuring bulletin boards and learning displays are current.
  • Student Supervision: Monitor students during lunch, recess, emergency drills, assemblies, and field trips. Ensure student conduct aligns with school expectations and report any issues to the teacher.
  • Professionalism: Build positive relationships with students, staff, and the community, reflecting a commitment to professionalism.
  • Training & Development: Participate in professional development opportunities, including mandatory First Aid/CPR training.
  • Confidentiality: Safeguard sensitive student information and maintain the privacy of all educational records.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent college credits (60 semester hours).
  • Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
  • A genuine interest in supporting student learning and development.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment with constant interruptions.
  • Positive team player capable of establishing strong working relationships.
  • Physical ability to engage with students actively (sitting, walking, standing) and lift objects as necessary (10 to 20 pounds).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with students, particularly in Native American communities.
  • Clerical experience and proficiency with technology in educational settings.
