Job Summary
Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) is actively recruiting qualified candidates for a Planning Assistant II - Extended Learning position within the Department of Extended Learning for the 2025-26 school year.
The Planning Assistant II - Extended Learning's primary purpose is to support implementation of administrative systems, monitoring, and executing large scale projects within Extended Learning Opportunities such as Learning Journeys, summer academic enrichment, credit recovery/acceleration, and alternative programs.

Qualifications
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree related to Education, Marketing, Business or Community Relations
- A combination of education and work experience will be considered.
- Experience working in public education/non-profits/governmental organization.
- Experience collaborating with staff and managing budgets.
- Experience with data collection
- Experience in community relations, public relations, communications, or related experience.
- Experience working in an urban environment preferred.
Skills and Abilities
:
- Proficient in the use of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficient in the use of databases and/or Excel files with the ability to monitor data generate reports.
- Proficient in the ability to learn new software systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make effective, professional presentations and trainings, and grant applications.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Understanding of budget, contracts and grant management.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Interpersonal skills that ensure effective teamwork.
- Proven experience working with parents and families in a recreation, social service, or school environment.
The Planning Assistant II - Extended Learning is responsible for:
- Assisting management with administrative projects and works independently or as part of a team to see projects through to completion.
- Processing replies on own initiatives or from staff instruction or notes.
- Developing, organizing and maintaining effective communication between partnering agencies, community members, school, and district staff.
- Cultivating partnerships with community partners and external organizations
- Organizing recruitment efforts for year-round enrichment opportunities
- Assisting with the creation of contracts and the Request for Proposal process
- Planning and promoting extended learning opportunities through publications, website, and social media.
- Collecting and maintaining data, compile statistics, keep records, and prepare required reports relative to learning journeys, credit recovery, alternative programs, tutoring, and summer school.
- Proctoring exams and assist with enrollment related to alternative programs.
- Assisting with inventory control of all extended learning opportunities materials and equipment.
- Managing time, priorities, budget, records, and required paperwork while meeting deadlines.
- Monitoring and supporting equitable access and participation of different student sub-groups.
- Independently managing multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines.
- Attending required staff and district meetings.
- Actively supporting the MPS Strategic Plan.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
The Planning Assistant II salary range is $58,000 - $68,000 or 260 days or 12-month position. Additional hours, outside of the normal business day may be required as part of this position.
