Overview
Join to apply for the Senior Field Engineer Team Lead role at HNTB in Milwaukee, WI. This is a leadership position within the Construction Services Group, focused on project leadership, engineering inspection, and documentation of construction work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, contract provisions, and applicable regulations.
Responsibilities- Inspect, monitor, and oversee construction field work to ensure conformance to plans and specifications; administer KPIs and budget, and interpret complex contract documents for compliance.
- Perform or supervise on-site material testing; determine material requirements, track quantities, prepare pay estimates, and ensure procedures and materials meet plans and specifications.
- Initiate field changes to drawings and specifications; identify discrepancies; review contractor daily reports for accuracy; prepare weekly progress reports.
- Consult with Resident Engineer on progress and problems; proactively propose solutions; liaise with the engineer of record.
- Stay current with industry technology and tools used for inspection; utilize GPS/Rovers to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide office engineering support when needed, assist in contractor claims and disputes; track and process RFIs and submittals; perform constructability reviews.
- Lead daily assignments, mentor and train staff; monitor internal project controls as directed.
- Recruit, hire, develop, and retain staff; coordinate schedules, reporting, performance, and compensation reviews, and succession planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 6 years of relevant experience, or
- Master’s degree in Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience, or
- Doctorate degree in Engineering with 4 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for workmanship and materials; able to serve as a subject matter expert (e.g., constructability reviews).
- Ability to secure and deploy section/department resources effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to lead the project team in the absence of the PM/RE.
- Experience performing advanced shop drawing and submittal reviews and advanced CPM schedule analysis.
- Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), American Concrete Institute (ACI), Project Management Professional (PMP).
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Agency safety training certification preferred.
- Experience with digital construction management software such as Constructware or Asite.
