We have an exciting opportunity for a Piping or Plumbing Designer located in Milwaukee, WI.
As a Plumbing or Piping Designer at J.
F. Ahern, you’ll play a critical role in the success of our projects. You will design and model complex systems—either plumbing or piping—based on provided specifications and ensure all associated drawings, calculations, and material lists are accurate and complete. Your work sets the foundation for project execution, enabling our field and shop teams to deliver with optimal productivity and efficiency. You’ll collaborate with project teams to coordinate comprehensive systems that vary in size and scope, operating independently in a fast‑paced environment to meet deadlines and ensure quality.
You Need To Qualify
To succeed in this role, you should have either an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Design, Civil Engineering, Computer‑Aided Drafting/Design, or a related field with proficiency in recent versions of software, including Revit, Navisworks and Autodesk Construction Cloud. You may also qualify through equivalent field experience such as managing large commercial or industrial construction projects that involve fabrication and coordination responsibilities.
A strong understanding of building construction, the ability to read blueprints, and solid math and problem‑solving skills are required. You should also be able to manage design schedules and lead coordination efforts. For plumbing designers, a working knowledge of Wisconsin Plumbing Code is necessary, while piping designers should have experience with steam and hydronic systems.
