Role:
Structural Engineer responsible for handling all engineering matters for assigned projects. Provide technical services including code analysis, structural analysis, design and calculations, coordination of all structural and cladding details, facilitation of engineering stamping and obtaining client approvals. Ensure all engineering services are delivered on time, within budget, and with appropriate material usage.
- Receive new projects from Sales and produce a comparative take-off study versus the project estimate, outlining materials to be used and the technical time allotted; follow up with Sales for clarification before proceeding with design.
- Develop structural schemes and cladding details per contractual obligations, architectural intent, budget and schedules. Propose value-engineered options to the Project Manager to determine if the team can reduce costs.
- Manage detailers to maintain design and material usage within budget and function. Do not compromise safety, but ensure efficient design.
- Plan and oversee shop and fabrication drawings and calculation books. Before submittal and release to production, verify drawings for fit and structural integrity.
- Perform calculations to justify member sizes and connection details and produce the calculation booklet for submittal to the client.
- Facilitate review of calculations and drawings with the Engineering Consultant to obtain a sealed stamped set for the project region.
- Coordinate externally with architects, consultants, subcontractors and contractors to plan and organize work, creating schedules and communications to obtain approvals of drawings and calculations.
- Engineering degree (Civil, Mechanical or Architectural) with a structural emphasis.
- One (1) to five (5) years of applicable experience designing steel structures.
- Experience in Structural Analysis using finite element method of analysis.
- Use of basic computer tools and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD, etc.); experience with STAAD, RSTAB, ANSYS or similar essential.
