Co‑op, Firmware Engineering (January to August 2026) – Milwaukee

Overview

We are seeking energetic engineering students for a full‑time co‑op in firmware engineering. You will work with a team of engineers and industry professionals in one or more of the following areas:

  • Programming
  • Lab testing
  • Prototype evaluation
  • Technology investigations
  • Software development tools
  • Small design projects

This position is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Relocation support will not be provided for candidates outside the greater Milwaukee area.

Essential Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Enrolled for at least one semester after the co‑op concludes.
  • Will be available to work full time from January 2026 through August 2026, taking the Spring semester off of school.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship).
Preferred Qualifications
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Preference for students met on campus, at a national recruiting event, through a Rockwell Automation‑hosted event, or a targeted recruiting campaign.
  • Preference for students who have completed a prior internship or co‑op with Rockwell Automation.
  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Basic programming skills in C++, C, or Python.
  • Experience with industrial automation environments, including PLC or drives programming.
  • Experience with Industrial Automation products.
  • Experience using Agile methodology.

Compensation

The base hourly rate ranges from $22 /hour to $32 /hour. Actual pay is based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
