HGA is hiring a Mechanical Engineer with Central Utility Plant expertise. Bring your design-sensitive, ambitious expertise to HGA, a nationally recognized architecture, engineering, and design firm. In this role you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to projects spanning healthcare facilities, corporate headquarters, laboratories, museums, government buildings (local, state, federal), higher education campuses, and infrastructure improvements.

• Strong consulting engineering background, particularly in Central Utility Plant design and steam systems
• Expert knowledge of applicable codes and regulations
• Extensive understanding of standard engineering practices, techniques, and procedures
• Proven problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work effectively with internal teams and external clients to address complex engineering challenges

• HVAC engineering design – calculating heating and cooling loads, selecting equipment, layout of duct and piping, creating and editing project details, and writing and editing project engineering specifications
• Lead client management and team coordination
• Participate in design review meetings and workshops
• Resolve a variety of complex design challenges, including conflicting owner and project requirements, application of different system types, or challenging field conditions
• Research design options and document findings for the project team
• Assure drawings and designs are in accordance with local codes and design standards
• Coordinate with architectural and engineering disciplines as applicable

• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
• 8+ years minimum of consulting engineering experience with emphasis on Central Utility Plant design for multiple client types
• Professional Engineer registration recognized by a state
