Experienced Environmental Consultant in Due Diligence
Location: Chicago, IL or Milwaukee, WI. Possibly IN, OH, or flexible U.S. location.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. No sponsorship is available for this position.
Ramboll is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Consultant to evaluate contamination and regulatory compliance risks and other environmental, health and safety issues.
To succeed in this role, you must hold a Master of Science in Environmental, Chemical or related Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology, or a Bachelor of Science in one of these fields with relevant consulting experience.
We are looking for someone with 1–3 years of relevant work experience specifically in conducting environmental due diligence assessments (e.g., Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, environmental compliance reviews, desktop due diligence reviews), and environmental regulatory compliance experience (industrial and commercial facilities preferred).
Key Tasks and Responsibilities- Complete environmental site assessments of commercial and industrial sites.
- Complete limited environmental compliance reviews of industrial sites by abstracting regulatory requirements for multi‑media environmental compliance.
- Review site investigation reports and provide conclusions and opinions related to the extent of contamination, recommendations, and development of scopes of work.
- Prepare technical reports that effectively communicate site findings.
- Formulate conclusions and opinions and communicate with clients.
- Travel to industrial and commercial facilities for site visits (typically one day), including both local and non‑local travel.
- Support multiple projects and meet high quality standards on project deliverables.
- Minimum of a BA or BS in Geology, Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Geologic), Environmental Science or an Environmentally‑Related Field from an accredited institution, and 1–3 years of environmental consulting experience. A Master’s degree is welcomed but not required.
- Understanding of Phase I ESA requirements and the due diligence process. Experience with in M&A is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of multi‑media environmental compliance topics and regulations of the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, SPCC, NPDES, and EPCRA.
- Classwork or experience with site assessment and investigation, contaminant fate and transport, pollution control and design, regulatory policy, and GIS mapping is a plus.
- Willingness/ability to travel up to 30% of the time on average during the year, possessing a valid driver’s license. Overnight stays and out‑of‑state travel may be required.
- Physical requirements include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing/sitting/walking, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 40 lbs. Exposure to extreme weather, high noise levels, moving machinery, electrical current, and chemicals may occur.
