Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer plays a key role in bridging engineering and production by creating accurate 3D models and drawings, developing bills of materials, and supporting engineering change processes. This position collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to improve existing products, develop new design concepts, and ensure that engineering documentation and procedures support efficient manufacturing and a safe work environment.
Responsibilities
+ Work directly with other engineers to produce detailed drawings from sketches, existing drawings, and electronic images.
+ Prepare accurate 3D solid models and associated engineering documentation for customer orders.
+ Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) for products and develop modular BOM creation procedures.
+ Support the processing of Engineering Change Orders (ECO) using Autodesk Vault Professional.
+ Review the issue management system and follow up on related Engineering Change Orders to ensure timely resolution.
+ Devise new design solutions to address engineering and production problems encountered during projects.
+ Assist the ongoing Product Improvement team with daily customer-specific design updates and enhancements.
+ Support the Product Development team with new design concepts needed to assist in building new products.
+ Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve technical and process-related problems.
+ Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure alignment between engineering, production, and other functions.
+ Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed to support project and departmental goals.
+ Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, and complying with applicable codes and legal regulations.
+ Train in internal systems to make drawing changes when not assisting production; this will serve as a secondary job function.
+ Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned to support engineering and production activities.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
+ Proficiency in 3D solid modeling, with experience in Autodesk Inventor and Vault Professional preferred.
+
Experience with Solid Works and other mechanical design tools.
+ Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
+ Strong skills in sheet metal design, water piping, and hose routing.
+ Basic knowledge of steel and aluminum manufacturing processes, including sheet metal fabrication, machining, and welding.
+ Understanding of parametric modeling concepts such as assemblies, iParts, factories, and the ability to drive model dimensions through parameters or logical statements.
+ Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
+ Ability to work within tight deadlines and manage time effectively.
+ Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
+ Capability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
+ Good written and verbal communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed environment.
+ Proven ability to work effectively as a team player.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+
Experience with AutoCAD for 2D and 3D design work.
+ Familiarity with Visual ERP or similar enterprise resource planning systems.
+ Knowledge of hydraulic systems for mobile equipment is a plus.
+
Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) is an added advantage.
+ Background in pneumatic and hydraulic system design and documentation.
+ Exposure to water piping systems and hose routing in mechanical assemblies.
+ Understanding of manufacturing processes related to welding and machining.
+ Experience working with Autodesk Vault Professional for data management and ECO processing.
+ Familiarity with CAD tools for sheet metal and structural design.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
Work Environment
The Mechanical Engineer works in a collaborative engineering and production environment that relies heavily on CAD and data management tools such as Autodesk Inventor, Solid Works, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Vault Professional, as well as ERP systems like Visual ERP. The role involves regular interaction with engineering, production, and other departments to ensure designs are manufacturable and aligned with operational needs. Work is typically…
