Position Overview
Responsible for helping to secure and manage grant funding in support of Next Door's mission. This position is responsible for financial tracking, compliance reporting, impact measurement and support of grant writing. Working with programs, fiscal and development to craft compelling proposals, budgets, track spending, compliance and reporting on the effectiveness of awarded funds. This role sits at the intersection of program impact and financial stewardship, ensuring that grant funds are maximized and aligned with organizational goals.
The Grants Fiscal Manager will act as a crucial ally to the Vice President of Finance and Administration.
- Collaborate with program, fiscal and leadership to develop persuasive grant proposals that align with funding priorities.
- Development of budgets and financial projections for grant applications.
- Track the release of grant funds and monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with grant agreements.
- Maintain detailed financial records and documentation for grant-related transactions.
- Ensure compliance with grant terms, reporting deadlines, and financial guidelines.
- Prepare and submit timely financial and narrative reports to funders, detailing grant expenditures and program outcomes.
- Work collaboratively to measure and document the impact to funded programs.
- Analyze and interpret grant data to assess performance and identify trends.
- Assist in the execution and implementation of technology, processes and procedures to streamline grant-related processes.
- Provide technical assistance in regard to all grant financial management and reporting requirements.
- Support of the annual audits and funder reviews by preparing the necessary documentation.
- Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external stakeholders; working closely with the Accounting Manager and Vice President of Finance and Administration in said communications.
- Monitor internal controls and compliance in regard to compliance with contracts, grants, and accounting and finance policies and procedures.
- Prepare reports for management as needed and requested.
- Contribute to team effort through, regular communications and meetings, providing support and guidance to all agency departments, and accomplishing related results.

Qualifications- Minimum educational requirement of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Public Administration.
- Five years' experience in grant accounting, non-profit finance and grant writing managing multiple funding streams.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of nonprofit financial management, grant compliance, in accordance with the requirements of federal, state and private funding, GAAP, 2 CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance), and all applicable grantor regulations.
- Excellent writing skills with experience in grant administration, including drafting grant proposals and reports.
- Proficiency in accounting software and grant management systems with considerable knowledge of computer hardware and software, and computerized office management applications including experience with automated accounting and financial systems. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office is required. Specific experience with MIP accounting software preferred.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines.
- Successfully pass the Background Verification Day Care check as required by the State of Wisconsin Administrative Rules.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and recommend corrective action to management.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to deal with concepts and complexity comfortably.
- Ability to prioritize and spend time and the time of others on what's important; quickly zero in on the critical and put the trivial many aside.
- Successfully pass a physical examination that verifies the employee is free from communicable diseases and is physically able to perform required job responsibilities.
